Consumer spend falls for 3rd consecutive month

Consumer spend in the UK fell for the third month in a row in July, the first time overall spending has fallen for three consecutive months since February 2013, according to a report. Visa’s UK Consumer Spending Index shows that spending fell by 0.8 per cent year-on-year in last month, after declines also recorded in May and June. The fall in spending in July marked the first time since early 2013 that spending has declined annually for this length of time.
