Homebase to consider CVA threatening hundreds more jobs

Homebase is reportedly considering launching a CVA which could see up to 40 stores shut and hundreds of staff be made redundant. According to the Press Association the embattled retailer, which was recently sold to restructuring specialist Hilco Capital for just £1, is hunting for advisors for a potential CVA. It is understood that Alvarez & Marshal have been contacted by the DIY chain to explore the insolvency procedure, alongside other options

Adidas reports data breach marking 3rd major hack this month

Adidas has cautioned its customers in the US of a possible data breach, marking the third high profile cyber security attack on the sector this month. The sportswear giant confirmed yesterday that it may have been exposed to a data security incident. Although it said it did not believe credit card details had been jeopardised in the breach, customers contact information, usernames, and encrypted password data may have been accessed.

Tesco trials checkout-free Scan Pay Go app

Tesco has started a trial of a new app that allows customers to scan and pay for groceries using their smartphone and then leave the store without needing to use a checkout. Harrods’ chief merchant Helen David has announced her departure from the department store after a decade. The retailer said David felt it was the right time to “explore other opportunities” and has not yet revealed whether it would directly replace her or which candidates might be considered. Nike returns to solid growth despite drop in Converse sales

Nike has returned to growth reporting a double-digit rise in revenues during its fourth quarter thanks to strong international sales. The fourth quarter saw Nike’s revenues rise 13 per cent to $9.8 billion (£7.45 million), comfortably above analysts’ expectations of $9.4 billion (£7.15 million)
