DIY specialist B&Q recorded a 3.6 per cent rise in sales for its second quarter to July 31. Owner Kingfisher on Thursday said its B&Q and Screwfix divisions had experienced a good “sales recovery” for the quarter, “within the context of a continuing weak UK consumer backdrop”.

1 in 10 shoppers return clothes after Instagram post

A new survey commissioned by Barclaycard has found almost one in 10 UK shoppers admit to buying clothing only to take a photo on social media. Once they’ve photographed the “outfit of the day” style post, the clothes are then returned back to the store. Within the survey of 2,002 adults, shoppers aged 35-44 are most likely to do this, and men outnumbered women.
